Our Commitment

Lisa C Hamilton's Fair Housing Commitment

Lisa C Hamilton is committed to providing equal professional real estate services to all persons and supports the principles of the Fair Housing Act. Every person has the right to equal access to housing opportunities and professional real estate services.

Lisa C Hamilton provides real estate services without discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, disability, familial status, national origin, or any other protected class under applicable federal, state, or local law.

Every person should have equal access to housing opportunities and professional real estate services. This commitment extends to all aspects of the real estate services offered: property listings, client services, financing referrals, and community engagement.

Equal Housing Opportunity

Understanding your rights under fair housing law

The Equal Housing Opportunity symbol and statement represent a commitment to fair housing principles that go beyond legal requirements. It signals that a real estate professional or firm provides services to all qualified persons without discrimination. Lisa C Hamilton proudly displays the Equal Housing Opportunity logo and upholds its principles in every transaction.

Equal Housing Opportunity means that every person has the right to:

  • Inspect and rent or purchase housing in any area without discrimination
  • Receive equal professional service and access to available properties
  • Receive equal financing opportunities and mortgage information
  • Be free from harassment or intimidation in housing-related activities
  • Request reasonable accommodations and modifications for disabilities
  • Access multilingual services and language assistance when needed
Federal Law

Federal Fair Housing Act

The Federal Fair Housing Act, as amended, prohibits discrimination in housing and housing-related transactions based on seven protected classes:

Race
Color
Religion
Sex (including gender identity and sexual orientation)
Disability
Familial Status (children under 18)
National Origin

The Fair Housing Act applies to a wide range of housing activities, including the sale, rental, financing, and advertising of housing. It also prohibits discriminatory practices such as steering, redlining, blockbusting, and unequal terms and conditions.

The Act requires that housing providers make reasonable accommodations and allow reasonable modifications for persons with disabilities. It also requires that new multifamily housing be designed and constructed to be accessible to persons with disabilities.

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is the primary federal agency responsible for enforcing the Fair Housing Act. Individuals who believe they have experienced housing discrimination may file a complaint with HUD or pursue legal action in federal court.
