Quick Answer
The week of October 5-11, 2026 is one of the busiest of the fall: Metallica plays Sphere, the Golden Knights host Toronto and Los Angeles at T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas PRIDE week starts with the Night Parade on Friday, Henderson holds its free Aki Matsuri festival on Saturday, and every pumpkin patch from Gilcrease Orchard to Moapa Valley is open. October is also Southern Nevada's best hiking month, with Valley of Fire's summer-closed trails back open and Mount Charleston's aspens near peak.
This week's edition of What's Happening in Nevada covers October 5 through 11, 2026, and it is one of the busiest stretches of the fall: Metallica plays Sphere, the Golden Knights host two home games, Las Vegas PRIDE week kicks off with the Night Parade, Henderson throws its free Aki Matsuri festival, and every pumpkin patch from Las Vegas to Logandale is open. On top of that, October is the best hiking month of the year in Southern Nevada, with Valley of Fire's summer-closed trails back open and Mount Charleston's aspens near peak. Read on for the full rundown, with dates, locations, admission and official links.
The Two Big Concert Runs This Week
Metallica at Sphere
Metallica is in the middle of a month-long residency at Sphere on the Strip, and its shows inside this week's window run Monday, October 5 through Thursday, October 8. Sphere's wraparound screen turns a normal concert into something closer to a film set, and the band has been pairing its catalog with full visual productions. Tickets are the only admission, and they go fast, so check the venue or a ticket resale site directly. For a lived-in summary of the full October concert calendar, the Las Vegas Shows guide at Vegas.com and the October listing roundup at Lavish Vegas are both handy, and IGOVegas has a month-by-month breakdown of shows like Josh Groban, Barry Manilow and Ludovico Einaudi that are also running this week.
Two Golden Knights Home Games
Hockey is back at T-Mobile Arena with two games in five days: the Vegas Golden Knights host the Toronto Maple Leafs on Thursday, October 8 at 7:00 PM, and the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday, October 10 at 7:00 PM. Both are cross-conference showdowns with real atmosphere, and Park MGM is the closest stop for a pregame bite if you are walking to the arena. See the T-Mobile Arena events page for tickets. Raiders fans should note that Sunday, October 11 is a road game: Las Vegas plays at New England, so the Raiders 2026 schedule will tell you where to watch.
Festivals, Free Events and Community Happenings
Las Vegas PRIDE Week Starts with the Night Parade
Las Vegas PRIDE celebrations run October 9 through 17, kicking off with the Night Parade on Friday, October 9 at 7:00 PM on 4th Street in downtown Las Vegas. The parade is the centerpiece of the city's LGBTQ+ community calendar, with floats, music and crowds lining the route. Get the route and the rest of pride week's lineup from Las Vegas PRIDE.
Las Vegas BikeFest Turns 25
The 25th anniversary Las Vegas BikeFest runs October 8 through 11, anchored at Craig Ranch Park in North Las Vegas with show events downtown at the Golden Nugget, including headline live music on Friday night, October 9. Expect a serious showing of custom, vintage and performance motorcycles plus vendors and demo rides. Details are on the official Las Vegas BikeFest site.
Henderson: Free National Night Out
City of Henderson parks and recreation holds National Night Out on Tuesday, October 6, 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Water Street Plaza, and it is free. Henderson Police and Fire bring out first responders and equipment, including a SWAT rappelling demo, and the event doubles as a pet adoption push. See the City of Henderson events page for the full lineup.
Henderson: Aki Matsuri Japanese Festival
The 17th annual Aki Matsuri Japanese Festival returns Saturday, October 10, 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM at Water Street Plaza, and it is free. Taiko drumming, Japanese food vendors, cultural performances and family activities draw big crowds every year, and with pleasant October weather it is an easy full-afternoon outing. Confirmed on the City of Henderson Aki Matsuri page.
Free Downtown Rocks Concert
Downtown Las Vegas keeps the free live music going with another Downtown Rocks show on Saturday, October 10 featuring Maggie Lindemann at the 1st Street Stage. It is free and outdoors in the Fremont East area, so it pairs well with the Friday PRIDE parade if you are already making a downtown weekend of it.
Pumpkin Patches and Fall Farms Are All Open

- Gilcrease Orchard Fall Harvest, 7800 N. Tenaya Way in northwest Las Vegas, runs September 26 through October 31 on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays from 7:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Pick-your-own pumpkins, wagon rides, and corn and straw mazes. Weekday admission is $4 plus fees, weekend is $6. Tickets went on sale in early September; FOX5 Vegas has the details.
- Vegas Pumpkin Patch at Cowabunga Bay, 900 Galleria Drive in Henderson, opens October 2 and runs through October 31 with free entry and parking, 30-plus carnival rides, games, food and pumpkins. See VegasPumpkinPatch.com.
- Moapa Valley Corn Maze and Pumpkin Patch, 3715 N. Pioneer Road in Logandale, runs October 2 through November 1, about 50 minutes northeast of Las Vegas. It has a 9-acre corn maze, pig races, pumpkin patch and hayrides on the official mvcornmaze.com site.
Oktoberfest Keeps Pouring
Hofbräuhaus Las Vegas' Oktoberfest runs September 11 through October 31, so it is in full swing all week with the imported Oktoberfestbier, Bavarian food and nightly live music from the Biermeister Band. It is the closest thing Southern Nevada has to the Munich original, and the Hofbräuhaus Las Vegas Oktoberfest page has the daily schedule.
October Is Southern Nevada's Best Hiking Month

Valley of Fire
Nevada's oldest state park, about an hour northeast of Las Vegas in Overton, is open sunrise to sunset every day, with the visitor center from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Day-use entry is $10 per vehicle with Nevada plates and $15 for out-of-state plates. October is when the big heat-closed trails reopen: Fire Wave, White Domes, Pastel Canyon and the Seven Wonders Loop were closed from mid-May through September 30 and return on October 1. One current wrinkle: the west entrance is closed Monday through Thursday for construction through the end of 2026, so arrive via the east entrance on SR 167/169 midweek. Confirmed on the official Nevada State Parks Valley of Fire page. October averages run roughly 82 degrees in the day and the mid-50s overnight, and you still want at least a gallon of water per person. My full write-up is in Valley of Fire: A Las Vegas Local's Day Trip.
Red Rock Canyon
The scenic drive at Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area opens daily at 6:00 AM and closes at 7:00 PM in October. Entry is $20 per passenger vehicle, and a timed-entry reservation is required October 1 through May 31 for vehicles entering between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM; book on Recreation.gov or call (877) 444-6777, with a small processing fee. Arrive before 8:00 AM or after 5:00 PM and no reservation is needed. Fees and fall hours are confirmed on the Friends of Red Rock fall hours page. For trail picks and scenery, start with my Exploring Red Rock Canyon guide.
Mount Charleston Fall Color
The aspens are at or near peak in early October at Lee Canyon and along Kyle Canyon Road, and this is the year's best week for leaf-peeping without a road trip. Access is via NV-157 and NV-156, both normally open and dry. Be aware of two things: it is cold up top, with daytime highs in the 50s and 60s at Lee Canyon's elevation and overnight lows near freezing, and weekend parking at popular trailheads fills by mid-morning, so go early or on a weekday. Check the Spring Mountains current conditions page and the Lee Canyon weather page before you drive up. More detail is in Exploring Mount Charleston.
One Good Weekend, Assembled
If you only have Saturday: start mid-morning at Gilcrease Orchard or a Henderson pumpkin patch, then head to Aki Matsuri at Water Street Plaza for the afternoon, and finish at the Golden Knights game if you have tickets. If you would rather be outside all day, run the Red Rock scenic loop early, hike Fire Wave or a Mount Charleston aspen grove, and save the evening for the free Downtown Rocks show.
A Few Practical Notes
Dates, lineups and construction windows change, so confirm anything time-sensitive on the official links above before you go. October weather in the valley is close to ideal, with warm days and cool evenings, but hiking still demands water, layers for the mountains, and an early start. And if a weekend in one of these areas has you wondering what it would be like to live there, Lisa's Moving to Las Vegas guide, the Henderson community guide, and her North Las Vegas living guide are good places to start, and you can search current homes while you are at it.
